Six percent of the total area of currently zoned industrial lands in the
Central Okanagan is located within Westbank. There are two main industries
in this area: softwood lumber manufacturing, which is located in the south
end of Westbank along Highway 97, and matured wines manufacturing situated
within the southeast part of Westbank with proximity to Okanagan
Lake. The amount of currently zoned industrial land is lacking in Westbank.
There are plans to continue to study and assess industrial land opportunities
to determine if the current stock can be expanded. The lack of industry
in the area signifies a reliance on the residential tax base, thus regional
industrial land allocation has become an issue in Westbank since incorporation
was discussed.
Westbank is located about 10km North of Peachland. Here you will find a good secondary school, all banks have branches here, a choice of restaurants, doctors, and dentists.
The area south of Elliott and Reece Roads to the Okanagan Lake and east of Powers Creek to and including IR#9
